Gangsta gangsta'
Classic NWA. Outside of "Straight Outta Compton," and "F the Police," its definitely one of the great joints from the OGs of LA.
But, anyway, when I was talking "gangster," it was more along the lines of the mob. Mafia. The complex theory where places like Goodfellas and Casino eminate. I watched the latest of these films this afternoon - the one called This Thing Of Ours. It was a low budget deal that came out in 2002 or something, but was only released in a few theatres in NYC and LA. It stars Frank Vincent (Raging Bull, Billy Batts in Goodfellas, Casino and Phil Leotardo of the Sopranos), James Caan (Godfather), and Vincent Pastore (Pussy from Sopranos). It finally came to video last month and it was pretty friggin good. The scam involves banking and the Internet, so obviously some of the old school guys have no clue what's going on. But, despite the somewhat weak video/audio quality, its a decent story with strong acting and some excellent wacking scenes (necessary for a mobster film). So check it out at Amazon, Blockbuster Online, or Netflix.
