Why the Lethal Weapon series is awesome

If you haven't seen them, you need to reconsider.

They star a great Mel Gibson and straight man Danny Glovers. The two guys seriously seem to be having some good fun doing these films and I dig it. Joe Pesci joins them in 2-4, and is terrific as the ritalin-needing sidekick with a quick repetition of "OK, OK, OK, OK" during almost every dialog exchange. And you've got Chris Rock (a bit too tame) as well as a scary-as-hell Jet Li in part 4.

But there's some thing else.

What I really love about this series is the consistency in casting. Not only do the main two guys appear in all four. But so does their boss. And Glover's wife, Trish. And all three kids. Eleven years between the 1st and the 4th and the entire crew keeps coming back. Now, that's dedication!

Pick up all four films in a single case from Target for $11!

Some Irony in 90210

While watching a rerun of the trials of Brenda and Brendan, I came upon a very interesting episode that almost mocks today's game of baseball. So, Steve and his dad (Rush) were in a father and son golf tournament against Rush's rivals, who happened to be Barry Bonds (circa 1994) and his fake dad.

The tee-off takes place and the game is even for awhile. However, Rush and Steve begin to lose and Rush is pissed. Nobody likes losing to the same people over ana over again. But he's got an ace up his sleeve - a.k.a. juiced golf balls that give him some extra distance! Classic. Of course, Steve gets upset, threatens to throw the game, Rush gives in, they win, lalala.

I wonder if Barry remembers this one? He actually looked human.
